My name is Cara, and I am Eliza's mother.

I never imagined I would one day be writing a message like this.

Like any mother, I dreamed of watching my daughter grow up, make friends, go to school, and build a beautiful future filled with possibilities. But our lives changed forever when we received a devastating diagnosis.

My daughter, Eliza, was diagnosed with Sanfilippo Syndrome, a rare, progressive, and life-threatening genetic disease that affects children. From that moment on, every day became a fight against something no family should ever have to face.

Sanfilippo Syndrome slowly takes everything away from a child.

It takes away their ability to learn.

It takes away their speech.

It takes away their motor skills.

It takes away their independence.

And eventually, it can take away their life.

As a mother, there is no greater pain than watching your child fight a battle you cannot fight for them.

Despite everything she faces, Eliza continues to smile. She continues to find joy even on the hardest days. Her strength inspires us every single day and gives us the courage to keep moving forward.

But the reality is that this fight comes with overwhelming financial challenges.

In addition to pursuing treatments that offer hope for children like Eliza, our family faces ongoing expenses for medications, doctor visits, therapies, medical evaluations, specialized care, transportation, and many other essential needs required to give her the best quality of life possible.

The costs continue to grow, and we are doing everything we can to make sure Eliza receives the care and support she deserves.
